Chapter 30

Weeks passed, and Lee was living happily with her husband and daughter. Lee woke up late one morning, feeling miserable. Sighing deeply, Lee rolled out of bed to find some orange juice. Finding Jinxx in the kitchen cooking breakfast, Lee was tempted to ask Jinxx to just cook breakfast for him.

“Morning boo,” Lee whispered out as she grabbed a glass.

Jinxx turned around and smiled at the sight of his wife, “Morning sunshine. What’s wrong? You seem paler than I remember,” Jinxx replied, handing Lee the orange juice from the fridge.

“I t-think I’m s-sick, Jinxx. I don’t feel good,” Lee replied as she slowly bеgan to drink her juice.

“What do you think you’re sick with? It bеtter not be coronavirus,” Jinxx asked as he backed away playfully, which caused Lee to smile.

Lee quietly giggled, “I t-think it’s a cold. Your birthday is in t-two days from now, and I really don’t know if I can get you anything just because I’m s-sick,” Lee added sadly.

“You know my birthday falls on Christmas day, right? Lee, I don’t care what I get. I just want to spend Christmas with my gorgeous wife, and darling child,” Jinxx replied with a smile.

Lee smiled faintly as she poured another glass of orange juice, “Really? I w-was going to t-try t-to get you s-something you’d never forget,” Lee replied.

“No matter the presents, no matter the gifts, and no matter the price, all I want for Christmas is you. You’re the one thing I want for Christmas, gorgeous. And that’s my entire wishlist,” Jinxx told Lee, gently giving her a hug, “Cold or no cold, you’re getting a hug,” Jinxx whispered out.

Lee cut a laugh short and groaned out in pain, “My t-throat hurts. It hurts t-to s-speak,” Lee hissed out.

With another hug, Jinxx quickly climbed the stairs to get to the bathroom for some cold medicine. Walking back down the stairs, Jinxx tossed Lee the bottle of medicine. Groaning again, Lee finished her first dose of the, in her opinion, gross liquid.

“All finished?” Jinxx asked as Lee met him at the stairs.

Lee nodded, “S-sadly, yes. T-that s-stuff is nasty,” Lee replied, scrunching her nose up.

Jinxx gently smiled, “Come here. You need to get back to bed,” he said, leading Lee back to their bedroom.

“W-where w-will you s-sleep?” Lee quietly asked as she made it to the landing in between floors.

Jinxx stopped as he thought about what his wife asked him, “The guest room. I’ll sleep there until you get better. No matter how long it takes,” Jinxx replied as he picked Lee up, and walked her to their bedroom.

Getting Lee settled in, Jinxx was about to leave Lee alone for a while so she could get better. Lee stopped Jinxx just before he closed the door.

“Can I have my computer?” Lee quietly asked, “It w-would keep me occupied, and out of your hair,” Lee added.

Jinxx smiled, “Sure. Let me go get it for you. Do you want your phone as well?” Jinxx asked.

Lee nodded gently, “If you don’t mind. It w-would give me s-something t-to do if I get bored w-with my computer,” Lee replied as she pulled the covers closer to her.

“I’ll be back then. Don’t go anywhere, baby,” Jinxx told Lee with a wink.

Lee sighed as she settled under the covers, not wanting to fall asleep before Jinxx got back. Despite all her efforts to stay awake, Lee felt as her eyelids slowly fell, and seconds later, Lee was asleep.

Jinxx walked back into their bedroom, only to find Lee asleep. Placing her computer and phone on the nightstand next to her, Jinxx placed a gentle kiss on Lee’s cheek which caused her to curl up tighter, and gently smile. Jinxx quietly walked out of the bedroom to go practice guitar.
