Chapter 14

For another hour, Lee kept sobbing. She heard a knock on the door, as she attempted to calm down, and went to answer it.

“Hey Jeffree. Jayy,” Lee said, as she opened the door. Jeffree wrapped Lee in a hug, hoping it would make her smile.

“We heard about Jinxx. I’m so sorry, hun,” Jeffree said, pulling Lee in for another hug.

Lee sniffled, “It’s okay. Where’s Jayy?”

“Smoking. Where else do you think he’s at? If he’s not drinking, he’s out somewhere smoking,” Jeffree said as he broke the hug.

Lee gigglеd, “Well come on in. It’s cold outside,” shе told Jeffree, “Jayy come on in! I’ll let you smoke in here.”

Jayy nodded as he followed Jeffree inside. Lee gently picked up Lilith, who went back to sleep.

“Jeffree, come meet my daughter,” Lee said after a few minutes. Lee walked over to Jeffree, Lilith still in her arms.

“She’s so pretty! She has Jinxx’s eyes,” Jeffree exclaimed as he looked at Lilith.

Lee heard her phone ring, “Jeffree, can you hold her? I’ve got to at least see who’s calling,” Lee asked, handing Lilith to him. Jeffree nodded and took Lilith from Lee.

Picking up her phone, Lee heard the faint sounds of a hospital, “Hello?” she asked, her blood running cold with fear.

“You don’t know how glad I am to hear your voice again,” a raspy voice said. Lee jumped when the man spoke. How she could tell it was a man was a complete mystery to her.

“You’ve reached the house of Mr and Mrs. Ferguson. If you’re looking for Mr. Ferguson, then I’m afraid he’s not here,” Lee replied, her heart sinking in her chest at the mention of Jinxx.

“You don’t understand, Lee,” the man said. Lee almost dropped her phone as she heard her name. She knew she never said her first name, and only used her last name. How did this man know who she was?

“How do you know my name? Who are you?” Lee asked, her entire body shaking from the fear.

The man chuckled, “You don’t know? Who’s the father of your child? Your husband, Lee. It’s Jinxx, baby.”

Lee dropped her phone, and instantly started crying. Jayy stood up from the couch, and went over to his sister.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, wrapping Lee in a hug.

Lee moved her right arm to point down at her phone, “Jinxx,” she said, attempting to calm down.

Jayy picked her phone back up and handed it to her, “Talk sis,” he said before walking back to the couch next to his boyfriend.

“Sorry, Jinxx. I got scared and dropped the phone,” Lee said as she brought the phone to her ear.

“It’s okay, baby,” Jinxx said, “What you heard was true though. Someone on my flight did have covid, and I did contract it. I won’t be home for a while,” he said sadly.

“I’m sorry, Jinxx. I shouldn’t have told you to go, if I knew this was going to happen. Forgive me,” Lee told him, wiping her tears away.

Jinxx sighed, “It’s alright. I’m doing a little better. How’s Lilith, babe?” he asked, hoping to cheer Lee up.

“Lilith’s doing good. My brother had to give me a ride back home though. He’s here with his boyfriend now,” Lee replied as she walked up to her bedroom.

Jinxx chuckled, “That’s always nice to hear. Look, I gotta go. Love you, be good.”

Lee smiled, “Love you too, Jinxx,” she said before Jinxx hung up. With a quick exhale, Lee laid down on her bed, happy that she got to talk to her husband again. Within a few minutes, Lee had settled down for a nap.
