Chapter 10

After three months of being happily married, Lee was about seven months pregnant, and was stressing about her ultrasound appointment again.

“Lee, I’m not going to tell you again. You need to go, alright?” Jinxx told her, sitting next to her on one of the kitchen barstools.

Lee sighed deeply, “I know I need to go, Jinxx. We both want to find out the gender of our baby. But I’m so scared. I was scared months ago, and I’m scared now.”

Jinxx nodded, as he grabbed Lee’s phone to call her doctor’s office to schedule an appointment.

After Jinxx scheduled an appointment, he grabbed his car keys, and walked out of the house. There wasn’t much Lee could do, so she watched as Jinxx left to go somewhere from her barstool.

Lee whimpered as she clutched her stomach. She felt the baby start kicking, and it worried her.

Lee whined as she pulled out her phone to call Jinxx, “Baby, something’s wrong,” Lee squeaked out as soon as Jinxx answered, “I don’t know what yet, but there’s something’s wrong. I’m scared, Jinxx.”

Lee hung up after Jinxx said he would rush over as fast as he could. Whimpering and whining again, Lee finally made her way to the couch, and laid down, breathing heavily.

Jinxx came back home a few minutes later, running into the house, and straight over to his wife’s side, “What’s wrong, baby? Are you okay?” Jinxx asked, his voice full of worry.

Lee caressed the bottom of her stomach with her left hand, trying to calm down, “The baby is kicking as hard as it can, and it’s hurting me so bad, Jinxx,” she said, calming down as best as she could.

Jinxx engulfed Lee’s right hand in his own hands, “Are you okay, Lee?” Jinxx asked again.

Lee nodded slowly, “I’m okay, Jinxx. I’m fine.”

A few hours later, Lee was in Jinxx’s car on her way to her ultrasound appointment. Lee was quite excited to go to this one, because she knew that they were going to find out the gender of her baby.

With Jinxx’s help, Lee got comfortable on the stupid bed she was on just six months previous. Lee smiled as Doctor Coma entered the room.

“Good afternoon, Lee,” Doctor Coma began, “Are you ready for your second ultrasound?” he asked, his smile growing wide.

Lee nodded as she motioned for Jinxx to come closer. She began the necessary routine for Christian to apply the paste.

“Alright. Let’s see if we can tell the child’s gender,” Christian said as he placed the tube on Lee’s stomach to find the child.

“There! From the looks of it, you’re going to have a baby girl,” Doctor Coma said after a few minutes.

Lee gasped with excitement as she looked over at Jinxx with tears in her eyes, “You got your wish, Jinxx. It’s a girl!”

“Now Lee, have you experienced any pains lately?” Christian asked after a few minutes.

Lee nodded gently, “This morning. I thought I was going to have her prematurally. She kept kicking, and it was so painful. I really thought I was going to have her prematurally or that she wasn’t going to make it, and that scared me.”

Christian sighed, “That’s bad. It doesn’t mean she will be a premature baby. The exact opposite. She’ll be born on time, and be extremely healthy. I’ve just never heard of the baby kicking that hard before.”

Jinxx spoke up, “So you’re saying that my wife’s child is going to be perfectly healthy when she’s born, right?” he asked, his eyebrow raising in question.

Doctor Coma nodded, “Yes sir. Your baby will be born happy and healthy. And you two will be first-time parents.”

Lee looked over at Jinxx and sighed, “Happy, healthy, baby, babe. And by your request, we’ll name her Lilith.”

Christian smiled, “You’re naming your child Lilith? Why?” he asked.

“It was Jinxx’s idea. Lilith is a unique name, and I just went with it,” Lee replied, looking back over at Doctor Coma.

After a few more minutes, Lee and Jinxx were sent on their way. The car ride home was quiet as Jinxx was in shock about finding out he’s going to be the father of a baby girl. Lee was just glad her child was going to be alright.
