May 31, 1962:
Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann is hanged for his crimes against humanity.
In Washington D.C., popular young President John F. Kennedy counts down the months until his tragic assassination.
A St. Louis man breaks the world record when he successfully ejaculates 12 times in half an hour.
And a new pizza restaurant opens its doors in California's Central Valley.
---
Di Presa’s Pizza House was started by Enrico Di Presa, a second-generation Californian with a strong work ethic and an even stronger compulsion for gambling.
While the little pizza parlor was popular with the locals, Di Presa's gambling quickly spiraled out of control.
Despite the addition of a popular ravioli-style pizza to the menu, Di Presa's income couldn’t keep up with his debts.
Di Presa was finished.
---
'Old man Di Presa was so committed to the Pizza House that [chuckles] he wrote his suicide note on a pizza box. He had a lot of debt. But you know, he died doing what he loved best. He shot himself in the head.'
---
After Di Presa's death on Super Bowl Sunday of 1966, the Pizza House fell into the hands of his creditors, eventually being acquired by employee Ronno Laird, who is its sole owner and proprietor ever since.
