Women—
I’ll try to say this the best that I can
I’ve grown up with mixed feelings about being a man
Trying to understand all the shit we’ve put you through
I think the real answer is that we’re afraid of you
I believe naturally you have more power than us
And that’s not something most men wanna discuss
But if we’re gonna get to the root of this distrust
Let’s try to be honest about what motivates us
Why we work so hard to create
A society designed to take your power away
Why we work so hard to make you isolated
So whеn you feel mistreated you’re alonе in your pain
It’s a highly effective way to stop you from banding together
Just one of you is barely enough for us to weather
We’re such primitive creatures, so goddamn tethered
To needing you; it makes us feel more helpless than ever
We get so mad that we can’t control you
Our minds are so occupied with trying to bone you
Biologically that’s pretty much why we were designed
A necessity to ensure that the species thrives
When we’re around you we feel just like little kids
Entirely motivated by our reptilian Id
It is from this place that we do our dumbest shit
To protect ourselves from the power you’re innately born with
The power to make any man bend to their knees
We fight for this power
You’re born with it, effortlessly
Please don’t mistake this for excusing our actions
I’m trying to shed light on the root of my classless behavior
Because when I try to pinch your asses
Grab your tits without permission
Like I have free passes
Belittle and demean
Tell you you’re not worth of half of
The pay that I’m making
It’s not cuz we’re bad asses
I’m just so terrified that you won’t want me back
So threatened by your power that I must harass you
Hoping to cut you dominance straight in half
With this power-play I’m pulling out of my ass
And it don’t matter if I’m an engineer or CEO
A construction worker or the founder of Weinstein Co
Or the motherfucking president
I hope you know, I’m still not that powerful
Which is the exact reason why I objectify you
A sexual object can be displaced and moved
Discarded on a whim like a bag of rotten fruit
So I can look for something better to chew
But if I decide to treat you like a human now
I am immediately forced to respect your power
And on paper, yeah that might seem fine
Till I feel like your power is more than mine
And if I’m comfortable with?
Damn that’s the best shit
Two powerful people can co-exist
But I want all of it, greedy in my dominance
My brain maintains you as a threat
I hope you’d never call me out, cut yourself from my tether
It scares me shitless that you’re deciding to band together
Because now I’ll be held accountable I must be better
Than treating you like hot flesh that I’m trying to make wetter
I’ll be honest
As a man there are times
When I want to do anything to make you mine
I feel It deep inside
Though I try to hide it
Maybe that’s the fatal flaw in my design
And that’s why
But if there’s a time when you walk past
And I make a pass at you and you say kiss my ass
Damn it’s always gonna hurt
And I’ll feel reactive
My ego just got put on blast
And that’s okay
No retaliation has to be made
I’ll take my lumps and move on
Respect your space
Call other men out when they get up in your face
I won’t manhandle it, you handle him with poise and grace
But I will help you exist
In a safer place
And if don’t
You have every right to call me out
And I hope you do
Otherwise you give me power
Authority I don’t deserve
So don’t be afraid
Cuz you’re a woman
You’re powerful
You were born that way
