I woke up hours after sunrise due to another nightmare. Ashley shifted in his sleep, and I knew Ashley’s medication was going to wear off soon. Slowly rolling out of bed, I went down to the kitchen to make a couple mixed drinks for Ashley.
Amber woke up due to noises in the kitchen. Slowly followed the noise from the kitchen, Amber found me silently working on Ashley’s mixed drinks.
“Morning, Andy. How’d you sleep?” Amber asked with a yawn.
I turned around slowly with a smile, “Hello, child. To answer your quеstion, I didn’t sleep last night. I normally sleep well, but something’s got me worriеd,” I said as I finished making one of Ashley’s mixed drinks.
“What are you worried about? I think I can help,” Amber replied, “Also, do you have any orange juice?” she asked.
“I think we do. Ash and I don’t normally drink normal drinks. Check the fridge for some, and here’s a glass,” I answered as I slid Amber a glass, “To answer your other question, just don’t worry about it. It’s something Jake and I share. Don’t worry about it,” I reiterated as Amber found some orange juice, and poured herself a glass.
Amber finished her glass of orange juice and frowned, “Just because I married into your family doesn’t mean you have to hide things. I’m a great listener, Andy, and I might be able to help. Trust me, I have a degree in this kind of stuff,” Amber told me with a smile.
I sighed deeply, “Child, don’t worry about it. I already told you,” I growled out, my eyes turning dark, “It’s nothing you need to concern yourself over. Now, there’s a pretty large flatscreen a few rooms over. Go watch something while I go check on Ash. Just don’t bother me about my problems,” I growled out again, my eyes turning even darker.
“Before I do go, I have a question. Why do your eyes change colors? They’re almost black now, but they were blue a few minutes ago,” Amber asked as she saw me take the first drink of a mixed drink I had been making for myself.
“A story for another day, child. Go humor yourself while I wake my brother up, and tend to Ash,” I replied with a deep sigh, my eyes slowly returning to normal.
Amber nodded as I showed her the room I was talking about. After getting Amber out my hair, I went to go check on Ashley first. Slowly opening the bedroom door, I saw Ashley sitting straight up in bed, clutching his ears.
“Bad dreams, baby?” I softly asked as I sat down on the bed next to Ashley.
Ashley shook his head, “You were being too loud downstairs. My hearing is still sensitive as shit. Baby, just be quiet next time.”
“Sorry, my love. I’ll be quiet next time, I promise,” I quietly replied as I gave Ashley a kiss, “I made you a Vampire’s Blood, and a Vampire’s Kiss. They’re both waiting for you in the kitchen,” I whispered out.
“You made me my favorites,” Ashley gasped out as he gave me another kiss, “Thank you, hot stuff,” Ashley laughed out.
I smiled as I picked Ashley up, “Come on, baby. Let’s get you your mixed drinks. Amber’s already up, so can you manage making your way down to the kitchen while I wake Jake up?” I asked as I put Ashley down.
Ashley nodded as he began to limp down the stairs. I watched as my boyfriend slowly made it down the stairs, and out of my view.
Slowly opening the door to Jake’s room, I threw the covers off my twin, “Wake up, Jake. Amber’s already up, she already drove me to a drink, and you need to wake up,” I told my twin.
Jake groaned, “What’d she ask you about? And please, hand me the blankets back. I’m cold,” Jake whined out.
“You’re not as cold as I stay. Jake, get out of bed. Amber’s watching television, and Ashley should be finishing his mixed drinks I made for him,” I all but growled out.
Jake groaned again as he sat up, “Fine, I’m awake. Don’t get snappy with me, Andy. Vampire or not, you’re still my brother,” Jake said as he rolled out of bed.
Following me down the stairs, Jake lost his footing, and fell into me. With a laugh, I gave my twin a piggy back ride down the stairs. Looking down at my neck, Jake saw the faint scars of two fang marks. Jake felt a tear trail down his face as he remembered that night.
“Don’t cry over that night, Jake,” I whispered out as I made it to the second landing, “I’ve been trying to get a tat to cover it, but no one wants to put a tat on a scar.”
“Sorry, but it was the worst night of our lives,” Jake replied as he tried to wipe his tears away.
I sighed as I sat Jake down at the bottom of the stairs, “I know, Jakey. Amber’s in the room to my left, go talk to her while I go see how Ash is doing. There’s supposed to be the worst thing in werewolf history pretty soon, and I want to see how he’s going to take the news,” I told my twin with a deep and heavy sigh.
With a nod, Jake left to join his wife, while I found Ashley sitting on a barstool around the kitchen island.
“Too much rum in the kiss,” Ashley whispered out, “Other than that, it was wonderful. I heard that sigh you sighed. What has you troubled, baby?” Ashley asked as he turned around.
“Are you sure you can take the news? It’s pretty bad news, and I found out about it a few days ago,” I replied with a sigh.
Ashley nodded, “Baby I can take the news. What is it?” he asked.
I sighed deeply, “There’s supposed to be a super blood moon next week. From what I’ve read from different books in my library, your transformations are supposed to last longer, and you’re supposed to get more violent. I just want you to be okay,” I said as I wrapped Ashley in a hug, and began to cry.
“A super blood moon? I’m not afraid of anything. Baby, I will be fine. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine,” Ashley whispered out as he gave into the hug, “What happens if I don’t go out?” Ashley asked, trying his best not to cry.
“I don’t know. The book is sitting on my bookshelf right now if you want to go look,” I replied with a deep sigh as I broke the hug, “I just want you to be okay, baby,” I reiterated with another sigh.
Leading Ashley into my library, I tossed Ashley the book I was talking about. After giving Ashley the page number, and where to look, Ashley sat down to read the page.
“Werewolf transformations only happen during a full moon. Blood moons, blue moons, super moons, and harvest moons affect the transformation, causing the werewolf’s transformations to last longer with more violence,” Ashley read out loud.
With a loud gasp, Ashley wrapped me in a hug, “What are we going to do, baby? I don’t want this to happen. Baby please tell me this book is outdated, and the information isn’t valid anymore,” Ashley quickly said as he began to cry.
“I got that book whenever you told me you were a werewolf. It’s been a few years, but the information isn’t outdated. I am so sorry for not telling you sooner, but we had other things to worry about,” I said as I wiped Ashley’s tears away, “Baby, I am so sorry you have to go through with this. How can I help?” I asked as I wiped more of Ashley’s tears away.
“Make sure I don’t hurt myself. Come with me on my hunts,” Ashley whispered out as he went to go make another mixed drink.
