I’m A Vampire, He’s A Werewolf CHAPTER 6 Annotated

I woke up a few hours later due to a nightmare. Ashley was still asleep thanks to the very powerful medication he was given. Sighing deeply, I placed a gentle kiss on Ashley’s cheek before rolling out of bed.

Checking Ashley’s wrapped leg, I had to change the bandages, since it was bleeding through. Hoping Ashley wouldn’t wake up, I began to unwrap the bandages. Seeing how bad the entire wound was, I wrapped Ashley’s wound up with fresh bandages.

Ashley groaned as he slowly woke up, “What are you doing?” Ashley slowly asked when he saw me throwing something away.

“Changing your bandages, Ash. What are you doing up? Your medication was supposed to wear off hours from now,” I replied as I finished wrapping Ashley’s leg.

“I know it was supposed to wear off later. To be honest, I have no clue why I’m awake,” Ashley replied as he slowly sat up.

I sighed, “Need some more?” I asked as I sat in bed next to Ashley.

Ashley slowly nodded, “Please. My leg hurts,” he hissed out.

Finding Ashley’s medication, I got Ashley a glass of water. Handing the medication to Ashley first, then the water, Ashley took his medication and sighed.

“I’m sorry I went out last night. If I knew this was going to happen, I wouldn’t have gone,” Ashley quietly told me.

“It’s not your fault. You didn’t know some asshole was stupid enough to leave a bear trap in the middle of the forest. Besides, I get to take care of you, and that’s fine with me,” I replied as I sat on the bed next to Ashley.

Ashley was about to reply until he felt his eyelids grow heavy. With a quick yawn, Ashley fell asleep in my arms. I chuckled deeply as I laid down in the bed, and put on a movie for me to watch.

After the movie was over, I was curled up next to my boyfriend, sound asleep. Sometime later, I was woken up by a loud knock on the door. Wondering who had the guts to knock on a vampire’s door in the middle of the afternoon, I went to go answer it.

Slowly opening the door, and blocking the sun with my hand, I saw my brother and wife standing there.

“Andy. We need to talk,” Amber said after a few seconds.

“Who are you to make demands?” I asked, my eyes turning darker than normal, “Woman this is my house, and you’ve no rights to demand to speak to me without notice,” I growled out.

Jake looked up at me, “Can I at least come in?” Jake asked as he moved his wife back.

I nodded as I let my brother in, “Get in here if you’re coming,” I growled out again to my twin’s wife, “What do you need to talk about, Jake?” I asked as I slowly calmed down.

“Remember the other day? She had questions,” Jake replied as he cupped his right wrist.

“You better believe I have questions. What were the marks on his wrist?” Amber questioned as she shot me a hateful look.

I sighed, I knew Jake never told her, “This is going to sound unbelievable, but it’s the absolute truth. When I was five years old, I became the stuff of nightmares. Twenty four years ago, I became a vampire. Every other day, or every two days, I have to go out at night and feed off of mortal beings. Whenever your husband came over, I was a few days behind feeding, and Jake knew it. We were trying to not freak you out,” I told Amber, “The marks on my twin’s wrist were my fang marks. I didn’t realize how deep I had bitten, or else those marks would’ve healed sooner,” I added.

Amber looked shocked, “You’re a vampire? I don’t believe it. Prove it,” Amber spat out.

I sighed deeply, “Come here, Jake. Let’s prove it,” I growled out, my eyes changing colors again.

Jake got up from his seat, and sat next to me. Moving the hair off his neck, Jake revealed the soft flesh of his neck.

“You’re behind feeding, aren’t you?” Jake asked as I handed him a ponytail holder.

I nodded, “You better believe I am. Don’t move, and don’t cry, just take a deep breath,” I replied.

Jake nodded as he looked right at his wife, and took a deep breath. Seconds later, my fangs sunk into Jake’s neck. After a few minutes, I slowly slid my fangs out, and grabbed my first aid kit. Cleaning up Jake’s neck, I looked over at Amber.

“Do you believe me now?” I growled out as I threw my first aid kit across the room.

Amber slowly nodded, “Sorry I didn’t believe you, and I am sorry for being a complete bitch.”

I nodded slowly as I stood up, “Jake, can you stay here? I need to check on Ash,” I asked as I grabbed another first aid kit.

“Yeah, I’ll stay here. What happened to Ashley anyways?” Jake questioned back.

Amber cleared her throat, “Sorry for interrupting, but is Ashley your girlfriend?” she asked.

I spoke up, “Child. I haven’t been straight for years. Ashley is my boyfriend. Like me, Ashley isn’t human. He’s a werewolf. Jake, to answer your question, Ash went out on a hunt last night, and hit another bear trap. If you want, you can come with me to check on him. He should be passed out in bed,” I told my twin.

Jake nodded as he got up, and followed me up the stairs, “How bad was the trap? Last time you told me about him hitting a bear trap, he healed in a few days.”

“Poison laced. Even with all my medical experience, I couldn’t help. I had to drive him to the hospital, and let them help,” I replied as I made it to my bedroom.

Slowly opening the door, Jake and I found Ashley laying on the bed, snoring gently. Jake noticed that Ashley’s left leg was bleeding through the bandages again. Tapping me on the shoulder, Jake pointed it out to me.

“Come here. There’s some things even I cannot do myself,” I whispered out as I walked over to my sleeping boyfriend.

With a nod, Jake silently followed me. I began to put some leverage on Ashley’s leg, which meant Jake had to hold Ashley’s heel as I began to unwrap the bandages.

Finally getting Ashley’s bandages changed, I brought Ashley down to the living room. Ashley slowly woke up, and almost freaked out after realizing that he wasn’t in our bedroom.

“I know your meds are supposed to wear off hours from now, but there’s someone you need to meet,” I whispered into Ashley’s ear.

Ashley yawned and slowly sat up, “Hey baby,” Ashley whispered out, “Who’s your friends?” Ashley quietly asked.

Jake chuckled quietly which caused both of us to smile, “Ashley, you should remember me,” Jake quietly laughed out.

Amber tilted her head to the side, “Why are you all whispering?” she asked.

“Because the medication Ashley is on makes his hearing strange. It’s meant for mortals like you and Jake. Immortals like Ash and myself can take the medication, but it gives us weird side effects,” I quietly replied as Ashley clutched his ears.

“Shhh. Quiet, baby, quiet,” Ashley groaned out.

I sighed, “Sorry my love. Jake, if I show you how, can you make a Vampire’s Blood for Ash?” I quietly asked, “It’s honestly not that hard to make. A mixed drink usually helps his hearing out,” I added.

Jake nodded as he got up from his seat and handed me a piece of paper, “Write it down. I may want to make one at home.”

I smiled as I wrote down everything Jake needed for Ashley’s mixed drink. Handing the paper back to my twin, Jake walked into the kitchen to begin making Ashley his drink.

“Ashley drinks?” Amber asked quietly.

I nodded, “Yeah. I’ll have one every now and then for different reasons. Ash usually has more than a few, but he only drinks after his, well, transformations,” I replied as I gave Ashley a kiss.

Ashley smiled at the kiss, “You don’t have to whisper anymore, child. My hearing’s a little bit better, and it’s not as sensitive now. That medication helps with my leg, but puts me to sleep and messes my already great hearing up,” Ashley told Amber, “I am not familiar with you though. Who are you?” he asked.

“My name is Amber. I’m married to your boyfriend’s twin,” Amber replied with a smile.

As soon as Amber finished her sentence, Jake returned from the kitchen with Ashley’s mixed drink in hand.

“I know this might not be the way you like it, but hey, there’s your mixed drink,” Jake told Ashley as he handed Ashley his drink.

“Thank you, Jake,” Ashley told Jake as he took the first drink, “It’s just right. Perhaps better than what I make,” Ashley laughed out as he finished his drink.

I smiled at my boyfriend, who was still laying across my lap, “Feeling better, baby?” I asked.

“Feeling wonderful, darling. The drink helped, but being close to you does too,” Ashley replied with a smile.

Amber smiled gently, “You two seem to be very much in love. Ashley, what happened to your right leg?” Amber asked as she noticed the scarring on Ashley’s leg.

Ashley looked down, and tried to cover the scars, “Bear trap. I went on a hunt when the moon was completely full a few days ago, and didn’t realize someone placed a bear trap under a pile of leaves. After getting the freakin’ trap off my leg, I ran home as fast as I could so my baby here wasn’t worried. I collapsed and passed out on the couch. My wound healed pretty fast, as the trap didn’t sink in that deep,” Ashley told Amber as he gave me a gentle kiss, “The left leg was another story though,” Ashley laughed out.
