I woke up early the next morning, well before sunrise. Ashley was still asleep, so I decided to go read a book from my personal library. After searching for a few minutes, I found the three books I’d been looking for. Starting on The Complete History Of Werewolf Transformations, I settled down in one of the large chairs in my library.
“Werewolf transformations only happen during a full moon. Blood moons, blue moons, super moons, and harvest moons affect the transformation, causing the werewolf’s transformations to last longer with more violencе,” I read.
I didn’t know why I hadn’t read that book sooner. According to thе news, there was going to be a super blood moon sometime in the next two weeks. I growled out, and put the book back on the bookshelf before starting on a book Ashley had written.
I sighed, I remembered Ashley’s book, but there was one part that looked new, and wasn’t there last time I had read the book. Just as I snapped out of my thoughts, I heard the bedroom floors creak. I knew Ashley had woken up.
“Morning Ash,” I whispered out whenever Ashley made it downstairs.
“Morning Rocket. You’re up early,” Ashley replied, “What are you reading?” Ashley asked, making his way over to a chair facing me.
I sighed, “A part in your book you wrote for me. Y- you were there the night I turned? Why didn’t you try to help? Or why didn’t you tell me when we started dating?” I questioned, throwing the book down at Ashley’s feet.
Ashley leaned down and saw the part I was talking about, “I’m sorry. You were just a little boy, and I was scared. Andy you have to believe me, I would have helped, but I got scared. I also don’t think your family would have liked a large wolf to visit your camp. Rocket, that was twenty four years ago, you were five,” Ashley replied as he stood up to face me.
“Twenty four years ago my life was over. How do you think I felt? Ash, I lost my life at five years old. I know I still age like a human, but I’m not alive anymore,” I replied, my eyes growing darker than normal.
Ashley knew not to tick me off any more than what I already was, “I’m sorry. You need to calm down. Please Rocket, calm down for me. We both have our issues, but arguing about it isn’t going to bring our lives back,” Ashley replied, his own eyes turning a fiery red.
Before Ashley could say anything else, I wrapped him in a hug. Wondering what was wrong, Ashley gasped out in pain. I didn’t just hug him, I full-on bit Ashley, my fangs sinking into the soft flesh of Ashley’s neck.
“A- Andy. What are you doing?” Ashley questioned, his voice full of pain.
“Consider this your warning. Don’t make me mad,” I growled out after a few minutes, “Now, let’s get you cleaned up. Jake is supposed to be here soon, and I don’t want him asking questions on why you’re bloody.”
Ashley brought his hand up to where I had bitten him, and saw it was bloody. I grabbed Ashley’s hand, and drug him to my bathroom. Once in the bathroom, I silently began to clean Ashley’s neck and back. Ashley gasped out in pain whenever I poured a little bit of peroxide on Ashley’s wounds.
“Hush. It’s not attractive when you’re in pain. I know it hurts, but you don’t have to be a baby about it,” I growled out.
Ashley nodded, and bit his lip in an attempt to keep quiet. A few minutes later, I was finished cleaning up Ashley’s blood. Hearing a knock on the door, I silently left the bathroom to answer it, leaving Ashley in the bathroom.
“I am so glad to see you, Jake,” I said as I opened the door, blocking the sunlight with my hand.
“Let me in so you don’t have to be blinded by that god awful light,” Jake replied with a laugh, “I missed you, brother. When Ashley called, I was so glad to finally get to see you again,” Jake added, walking into my house.
I faintly smiled, “Ashley didn’t tell you why I had him call you, did he?” I asked as I offered Jake a chair.
“No. I don’t believe he did. Where is he anyways?” Jake questioned back, “Brother have you been feeding every other night? You look paler than I even remember.”
I sighed, “Ashley’s around somewhere I don’t even know where. But answering your other question, that’s what I had Ash call you about. I couldn’t feed last night, so I’m a day or so off. You know what I’m about to ask, so I’m going to spare that question,” I replied as I sat in a chair facing my brother.
Jake slowly nodded and moved his hair from his left shoulder, “Alright. Just don’t make it noticeable. Amber freaked out last time I came home with your fang marks in my neck,” Jake told me, trying his best not to cry.
I dropped Jake’s arm from the back of his neck, “Let’s try a different area. Like you, I don’t want your wife freaking out.”
“Where do you have in mind this time?” Jake asked as he tried to get his hair back to the way he had it.
“Let me get Ashley. He’s got to help me if you’re willing,” I replied as I got up from my chair.
Jake nodded, his breathing growing unsteady as I left the room. Ever since we were both children, Jake had always been afraid of me. Only ten minutes apart, I was older, but it really didn’t matter in Jake’s opinion. When I came out as gay, Jake was the first one to accept me.
I returned a few minutes later with Ashley, “Ash do me a favor. Go reassure him for a little bit. I need to get the first aid kit just in case,” I told Ashley.
Ashley nodded as he walked over to Jake, “We don’t talk much anymore, do we? You really don’t have to be afraid of me, Jake,” Ashley quietly told Jake.
“It’s not that I’m afraid of you, it’s just that I really don’t know you all the greatest. I’d love to get to know you better, Ashley,” Jake quietly replied, “The only time I really get to see you is when I’m helping my brother out.”
Before Ashley could reply, I walked back in the room, a first aid box in hand, “Ready Jake?” I asked.
Jake nodded, “As ready as I’ll ever be. Let’s just get this over with,” he replied.
“Ash, remember what I told you a few days ago?” I asked.
Ashley nodded as he walked behind Jake’s chair. Ashley gently placed his hands on Jake’s shoulders to keep him from moving as I grabbed Jake’s arm.
“Andy, where do you have in mind?” Jake asked again.
“Just wait. Look up if you have to, because you’re going to see exactly what I’m doing,” I replied.
Jake nodded as he looked up at the ceiling. A second later, I sunk his fangs deep into my brother’s arm. Not wanting to fight me, Jake began to cry. Ashley felt sorry for Jake, and tapped me on the shoulder to get me to stop. Finally stopping, I looked up and saw my brother crying.
“I’m sorry, Jake,” I whispered out, “There’s other ways, but I’m too much of a wimp to do that. Did I hurt you?” I asked as I wrapped Jake’s wrist with a large bandaid.
“It’s okay, Andy. You didn’t hurt me, I’m fine,” Jake replied, wiping his tears away, “I would like if Ashley let go of me though,” Jake laughed out.
Ashley chuckled and removed his hands from Jake’s shoulders, “Sorry,” Ashley whispered.
“Feeling better, brother?” Jake asked me after a few minutes.
I nodded, “Sadly, I am. If I could stop being a wimp, I would find a better way to feed, but like I said, I’m a wimp,” I replied, dropping my head.
“I get to spend time with you, Andy. Despite the circumstances on how I get to see you, I just like spending time with you. Even if we weren’t twins, we’re still brothers,” Jake told me, gently giving me a hug, “And you’re not a wimp. You were stronger than me about your vampirism.”
I gave into the hug and sighed. Jake knew that sigh, as he had heard it before. It wasn’t a disappointed sigh, or anything like that sigh. That sigh said it all, “I love you.”
Ashley cleared his throat as he walked over to the kitchen, “I was gonna fix a mixed drink. Do any of you want one?” Ashley asked as he began to find everything he needed.
Jake smiled as he broke the hug, “I’ll take a twisted tea on the rocks,” Jake told Ashley.
Ashley nodded and began to make Jake’s drink first. Even though I didn’t say I wanted anything, Ashley went ahead and made me a drink as well. With incredible balance, Ashley brought all three mixed drinks back to both Jake and myself.
“One Vampire’s Blood for me, a twisted tea on the rocks for Jake, and a Werewolf’s Drool for my darling boyfriend,” Ashley quietly said as he handed Jake and I our drinks.
