Intro Annotated

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome all the way from Rome, the gossip columnist for L'Osservatore Romano, Father Guido Sarducci [applause]

Thank you... hey, thanks everybody. It's wonderful, wonderful to be here. Notre Dame, south bend in the end, just reminds you where you're at. Hey, I-I don't know a whole lot about Notre Dame, of course, I did hear about it, you know, somewhat, you know, in Italy and that. But mostly I just know, you know, about the Hunchback and that. And now I got to see the tower whеre he climbed and еverything, you know. Amazing, I don't know if any of you was in school when he did it. You know, but it must've really been something. And then I understand, that eh, president Ronald Reagan is a graduate of Notre Dame, and he was a very, very famous football player, you know, over here, and that's wonderful. He was one of the, what do you call it... the four hunchbacks. And isn't it amazing, that one of those guys gets all the trouble, climbs the dorm and all; another one goes on to be president of the United States. That's life in a nutshell, eh? It's amazing.
