[Intro 1]
Hello, this is Terry Taylor, and you're listening to the big hit "Mr. Flutter" off my new solo album, "John Wayne."
[Intro 2]
"Mr. Flutter" is about, uh, that sinking feeling in your gut when you know the rent is due or the bills haven’t been paid and you don't know where you're gonna--where your next dollar’s gonna come from. And I've been in that situation a number of times. And ultimately, it's about faith and trust in the everyday humdrum nuts and bolts existence that most of us live. Yeah. No. I think that's it
[Verse 1]
Well, I'm in a mess, and I need a friend
I've been thinking 'bout success and how the story might end
But with friends like these, who needs enemies?
They've been lurking around, I see them coming down
[Chorus]
And here comes Mr. Flutter
He and Mrs. Dread, well, they love each other
Gonna build a haunted house, be my father and mother
They’re tying the knot in the middle of my gut
And they both want kids, so there’s one in the oven
They've picked out a name, he’s called "Little Nothing"
I think he was born to be my kissing cousin
He's pulling the chain in the middle of my brain
[Verse 2]
It's time to write a song, but I don't have the words
And my kids need a doctor, but I’m not insured
And my wife, she looks pale, she got the check in the mail
And it's not the amount we were thinking about
[Chorus]
And here comes Mr. Flutter
He and Mrs. Dread, well, they love each other
Gonna build a haunted house, be my father and mother
They're tying the knot in the middle of my gut
And they both want kids, so there's one in the oven
They've picked out a name, he's called "Little Nothing"
I think he was born to be my kissing cousin
He's pulling the chain in the middle of my brain
[Guitar Solo]
[Verse 3]
I got a friend on high, and he feels my pain
But I still got this dust flowing through my veins
And I wanna have faith, and I wanna know grace
But it's hard to break through when the rent's overdue
[Chorus]
And here comes Mr. Flutter
He and Mrs. Dread, well, they love each other
Gonna build a haunted house, be my father and mother
They're tying the knot in the middle of my gut
They've picked out a name, he's called "Little Nothing"
I think he was born to be my kissing cousin
I think he was born to be my kissing cousin
He's pulling the chain in the middle of my brain
[Outro]
And here comes Mr. Flutter
Ah, ah
(Mrs. Dread, they gonna love each other)
(Here comes Mr. Flutter)
(And he Mrs. Dread, they love each other)
(Having fun, here they come again)
