Calvary Road Lyrics

[Intro]
This next tune is really special to me. This is one of the first songs that I wrote that was about my faith, one of the very earliest songs. And, um, I used to go over to a, a woman's house who attended the same church I went to, and she loved my music, and she and her husband and family, uh, would invite me into their house, and she would record--she had a little two-track there. And I recorded a really early version of this. And she was always hoping that I would record this song for a record. So I’m doing it now, Katie, a little late. Better late than never, I suppose. It's called "Calvary Road," and this is for Katie. Beautiful Katie.

[Verse 1]
Bury the cross
Death in us all
Life to be lost
Heeding his call

[Chorus 1]
This, I'm told
Is Calvary Road

[Verse 2]
Laughter and tears
Forgiveness of sin
Love without fear
And broken for him

[Chorus 1]
Oh, this, I’m told
Is Calvary Road

[Bridge]
Narrow is this road
But this road leads to life
And without looking back
We must take his hand
Make straight the paths
Before our feet
Mmmhmm

[Verse 3]
Jesus in you
Jesus in me
He's working the changes
I thought I'd never see

[Chorus 1]
This, I'm told
Is Calvary Road

[Verse 4]
So take your sister's hand
And help your brother stand
Together we will walk
As pilgrims 'cross this land

[Chorus 2]
And we'll go home
On Calvary Road
We'll go home
Calvary Road
