John Philip “Jake” Thackray (1938-2002) was a singer-songwriter from Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Influenced by French chansonnier Georges Brassens, he became famous in the 1960s for performing topical songs on British TV shows like Braden’s Week and That’s Life. During his lifetime he released four studio albums and two live albums. Further live albums and a box set retrospective have been released since his death.
