Slipping Away

Summer nights, we're both laying in the front yard
The moon's bright and we're staring at stars
And the headlights shine in from your mom's car

Autumn evenings now that Summer is over

The days are shorter and the weather is colder

When we were dancing in a basement
We were covered in sweat

But now the words are slowly slipping away

We'd roll the windows down and we'd roll up our sleeves
Turn our music up loud, and cut our jeans at the knees, and
I can almost feel that cool summer breeze blowing in on a hot humid day

Winter mornings when I woke up without you
When I was lonely, I was thinking about you
Wish I could make things right but I just didn't know how to
I was young, I was stupid and scared

Spring afternoons, I hid inside like a coward
Sat in my room all day and cried April showers
I thought our love could bloom right back to life with the flowers
But when I opened my eyes, you weren't there

Take me back to when we had our goodbyes
