Prayer (4100) Annotated

O Thou great and eternal God, Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Giver of every good and perfect gift, [before Thee?] in Thy holy presence this morning do we bow our heads in humble submission to Thee, asking [Thee if Thou will] bow our hearts in love. Grant, dear Lord, Thy charge blessings of mercy that comes showering down from [?] glory. Pour out Thy love upon the sick and the afflicted, poor and the needy, distressed and the orphans, our fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers, and all whom we love. Cast us, we pray Thee, our Father, out of thе [urge?] of sin. Place our minds and our thoughts on Thee as Jesus Christ, thе Lord of heaven and earth eternal, Thou who was born as the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, the Bright and Morning Star to our soul, the Rose of the Valley, the Rose of Sharon, the matchless Prince of Peace, the everlasting Son of the Father. On Thee, our Lord, do we call this morning, for help [in need], because we know of no other one to call upon except in Thee and Thee alone; Thou, the God of eternity who has guided us beside the still waters of life. Thou, O Lord, who has helped us when we was going [adjacent?] to the commonwealth of Thy cause and Thy kingdom. Thou, our Father, who heard us when we was on our downward road to hell, stooped and driven over hell's dark door. Thou heard us when we called on Thee for mercy, plucked us as a brand from eternal burning, placed our feet on the rock of eternal ages, bid our golden moments to roll on.

And we realize this morning, our Father, that we are standing, as Thy darling Son said unto Peter, "Upon this rock will I build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." We know, dear Lord, that we are standing on the solid rock, Christ, Jesus, and no harm, hurt, nor danger can befall us. We pray, our Father, this morning, that as the church of the living God moves on, that Thou are moving the hearts of men, that Thou will stir them to the sense of their [?] duty, that sinners may be converted, that backsliders may be reclaimed, that those, our Father, who once have attached their hands to the gospel plough will never loosen, that may cling on to the horns of the altar, and be able to say, as did Paul, "I know that my redeemer lives because he lives as the hope of eternal glory in my soul." Grant, Lord Jesus, we pray Thee, for the blessings of mercy and of peace to rest and abide with us. Guide us now, our Father, through life's uneven journey. And ultimately, when we shall come to a close, when the dead and Christ shall arise and walk in the newness of life, father and mother shall welcome us on the kingdom's throne in heaven, save us. Thy name, Thy praise shall have the honor, the glory, the power, and the dominion, both now and forever. Amen.
