[Intro: Rev. James Beard]
Text, Matthew 26 and 15: "What will ye give me?" These words were spoken by Judas, who was an early disciple of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The same Judas was no doubt with Christ when He was down at the river of Jordan, and was there baptized by John. The same Judas no doubt was with Him when He was carried by the Spirit into the wilderness and was there tempted of the devil for 40 days and nights, and never eat nor drink. The same Judas no doubt was with Him when He was down in Nain and raised the widow's son. No doubt he was there when He raised the lame man who hadn't walked in a long time. And after seeing Jesus do all of these grand miracles was still crying "What will you give me? I don't need this man. Although He is a great man, He's able to raise the lame, and able, oh Lordy, to give sight to the blind. But I don't need this man. What will you give me?"
[Chorus: Rev. James Beard & Biddleville Quintette]
Shine on me, shine on me
I wonder if the lighthouse shines on me (Oh Lordy)
Shine on me, O shine on me
I wonder if the lighthouse shines on me
[Interlude: Rev. James Beard]
Oh, Judas was so unthankful to the Lord, and [Judas ? cried until ?/Judas loved Christ until after] Jesus had to be with him to give him clothes [that were/to warm] on his back and water when he was thirsty, and [bread when he] was hungry. Yet he was crying "What will you give me, and [I will deliver unto you]. I don't need this man, although he been a great friend to me, but I will [tell/sell to] you if you will have him." Oh Lordy, it's hard for man [to give his life for the duration], and then he would cry "What will you give me, and [I will deliver unto you]"
[Chorus: Rev. James Beard & Biddleville Quintette]
Shine on me
I wonder if the lighthouse (Jesus!) shines on me
Shine on me, (O Lordy!) O shine on me (Yes!)
I wonder, will this lighthouse shine on me
Amen (Amen)
Man’s Ingratitude was written by Rev. James Beard & Traditional.
