[Intro]
(Day you don't)
(Day you don't)
[Verse 1]
Excuse me, girl, I couldn't help but overhear it
And I didn't mean to listen in
Ain't that the third time that you asked for gin and tonic
And he made you wait while he talked to friends?
I get the feelin' that you're feelin' something's missin'
But you're too scared to let him go
And it's a shame you think he's as good as you'll be gettin'
But I can't wait 'til the day you don't
[Chorus]
The day you finally come to your senses
Wrap your mind around what your heart knows
I know right now you think you can fix him
And it might drive you crazy
But I'll be waitin' 'til the day you don't (Day you don't)
(Day you don't)
[Verse 2]
Really ain't like me to be comin' on this strong
But somethin' 'bout him struck a nervе
If it were me, you wouldn't bе barely hangin' on, nah
'Cause that ain't what you deserve
[Pre-Chorus]
Keep believin' what you want
I'll keep waitin' 'til the day you don't
[Chorus]
The day you finally come to your senses
Wrap your mind around what your heart knows
I know right now you think you can fix him
And it may drive you crazy
But I'll be waitin' 'til the day you don't (Day you don't)
[Bridge]
There ain't no way, so don't say you know the toll it's takin'
Waitin' on the day you don't
[Chorus]
The day you finally come to your senses
Wrap your mind around what your heart knows
I know right now you think you can fix him
And it may drive me crazy
But I'll be waitin' 'til the day you don't (Day you don't)
The day you don't (Day you don't)
Oh, the day you don't (Day you don't)
Day You Don’t was written by Ben Foster & Joybeth Taylor & Reid Haughton & Rivers Rutherford.
Day You Don’t was produced by Sadler Vaden.
Reid Haughton released Day You Don’t on Fri Jan 20 2023.
Going into this writing session all we knew was that we wanted to write a song that fit the vibe of the music we grew up listening to – a laid-back, groovy, rock-leaning song.
I walked into the session with a variation of “Day You Don’t” as a title idea. We started talking as a group and figured out the storyline. Rivers Rutherford (co-writer) brought the vibe. Rivers wondered if it was too “old school” for me, but we all loved it!
We wrote this at Ben Foster’s house who is one of the co-writers. For some reason the day we wrote this he had all of this studio equipment in his living room, so that’s where we wrote it. It was a really fun session!
