Scene 16 Toothless Buddies

We see Dakota’s car pulling into a driveway. She stops in front of the house, honking the horn. She begins looking around frantically while continuing to honk the car horn.

Tony: (holding his tooth)
Hey mom, another tooth fell out!

Dakota: (smiling)
Heh, sure did.

Tony:
Hey, your tooth fell out, too. We’re toothless buddies.

Dakota looks into the rearview mirror and realizes that she’s lost a tooth through this chaos.

Dakota:
We sure are. I want you to open that for mommy (motioning towards the glove compartment, Tony opens it) Now, I want you to take the gun. Careful. And if anyone that comes to the door that isn’t me, I want you to shoot them. I’m not kidding, Tony. You shoot them. Just like your video games. You shoot them in the head.

Tony:
What if it’s dad?

Dakota:
Especially if it’s your dad.

Dakota gets out of the car slowly, and looks around. She looks back into the car before she completely exits.

Dakota:
And be careful where you point that thing. You’ll blow your own face off. I’ll be right back. I love you.

The two exchange air kisses. Dakota shuts the door and begins walking towards the house slowly. Before reaching the patio, we see and hear the gun go off in the car. Dakota turns around to the car and looks inside to see that Tony’s accidentally shot himself in the head. A hand reaches out and grabs the back of her hair. It’s her husband Bill, who is now infected, showing the boils and abscesses on his face.

Bill:
Hello, baby.

With his hand holding her hair, Bill slowly brings up a syringe to stab her with. Dakota lunges forward, causing Bill to rip a chunk of her hair out, but she becomes free. A few zombies begin walking forward up the driveway. She walks around the Tony’s side of the car, trying to open the car door as quickly as she can, but her hands still have no feeling so, again, she’s using her foot to open the door. She pulls Tony’s limp body and puts him over her shoulder and starts walking towards the house.

Bill: (walking around the car towards Dakota)
I'm going to eat your brains... And gain your knowledge.

Dakota:
Stay away! Look what you did to our son! Stay away!

While holding Tony, Dakota kicks the door. It swings open and Earl is holding a shovel, ready to strike.

Earl:
Goddamnit, I told you I didn’t want to see you again!

Dakota: (zombies closing in on her in the background)
Daddy!

Earl: (ushering Dakota inside and closing the door)
Get your sorry ass in here.

The door shuts and the zombies are outside trying to get in.
