Scene 13 Infected

Back at the hospital. Bill is pearing around a corner and down a hallway at an overload of patients. Dr. Felix is also looking down the hallway with Bill.

Dr. Felix:
Viral infections… They came pouring in. Some are rapidly developing coliform lesions. Highly contagious. What do you think?

Bill:
Self preservation comes to mind.

Dr. Felix:
Yeah. Let’s get the hell out of here.

Bill: (turns back down the hallway)
First let me get my wife.

The two men separate, the camera follows Bill through the hospital. He walks by a door with plastic sheets covered in blood hanging over the doorway. He hears the buzzing of a bonesaw. He rips open the plastic to see Joe cutting the surgeon from earlier with the saw. Joe’s whole body has now taken the disease. Bill walks backwards, falling into the hallway. Joe takes notice and walks towards Bill with the bonesaw. As Joe brings the saw up to Bill’s face, we see that the saw’s cord is at it’s end. Bill is screaming as Joe’s saw gets closer and closer. As it’s cutting the frame of Bill’s glasses the cord comes unplugged. Joe then scrapes at the abscesses on his face and wiping the goo all onto Bill’s. Who is stunned in disgust.

The camera slowly pans backward as Bill remains in shock. We then cut to Ranger Earl McGraw feeding his vegetable of a wife some soup.

Earl:
I love you, sweetie. There you go, bunny rabbit. Come on. Come on. There ya go. I want you to be around for a while, ya understand? We don’t want you checkin’ out right this--God...damn. Ramona… You been fartin’ like a goddamn pack mule since I met--goddamn!

Hague: (over a walkie talkie)
I hate to do this to you, Earl, but we need every man on the job! The shit has hit the fan! Bring some guns… And ammo! Meet me at my brother’s!

Earl: (into the walkie)
I gotcha. I’ll be there.

Earl: (to wife)
Gotta eat quick sweetie. Come on.

As Earl puts up the last spoonful of soup to Ramona he notices her eyes and the abscesses on her face - she’s turned. Earl steps back, dropping the soup. Ramona stands and snarls at Earl. He pauses with a gun in his hand.

Earl:
Oh, Ramona.
