[Part I: Produced by Young $wisher]
[Intro]
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven
Give us today our daily bread
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one
Amen
[Chorus]
We on the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
Is you on the slow decline?
For me, that’s like all the time (same)
This is the road to Zion
This is the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
Is you on the slow decline?
For me, that’s like all the time (same)
Is this the road to Zion?
Is this the road to Zion?
[Verse 1]
We on the road to Zion
Bad times, they be multiplying, ayy
Angels, devils politickin'
Middle fingers to the 45, uh
Home of mine and the brave, it got a generational divide
Can't stand, can't stand it
But tell me you chose a side (everyone's divided, pick a side, aight)
Been known to stoke the fire
Strong and mighty is the pen
By the sword you live, by the sword you die
Toe the line between right and wrong, writing songs
Your sins you can’t always hide
Life’s a rollercoaster ride
But ain't no great adventures on this side
Staying woke on forty winks
Lord forbid that I close my eyes
White noise from the man in the ivory tower compiled with the rallying cries
But that activist life, for a moment just cast it aside
You walking 'round practically blind with that plank in your eye
Take it out, get your help
Fix yourself 'fore you run out of time
[Chorus]
We on the road to Zion
I mean I like America, but does it like me?
We on the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
I don't even like me
We on the road to Zion
Is you on the slow decline?
For me, that’s like all the time (same)
This is the road to Zion
This is the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
We on the road to Zion
Is you on the slow decline?
For me, that’s like all the time (same)
Is this the road to Zion?
Is this the road to Zion?
[Verse 2]
This a different world, no Sinbad
In a different world, I wouldn’t sin badly
Nah, I digress
Ain't perfect, but it's like I'm hardly trying
In my bag like what's under my eyelids
Mic check, can you hear me? (One two, one two)
Don't play boy, the Earth gon' burn, we gon' die lit (what?)
Break it, break it down for the digest (these are the breaks)
Peep the change in climate, finna do the Jade Lozada
Our actions are regrettable, the ending is upon us
And we're all hooked to the little boxes in our pockets
Open secrets, social media's making monsters
It’s all for the party, may we get a mulligan? (peachy)
The pack's fumbling, the wolves are in their getups, get the wool from your eyes
The finish gon’ come like a thief in the night
Look at the signs, we’re running out of
[Outro]
Instantly, my innocence was pilfered
Clouds on the horizon, is the lining silver?
Trying to find myself seems impossible
When I’m off the beaten path of least resistance
Rumors of war got them trembling
I got my own inner conflict to attend to
Shoutout Young $wisher
The wrong road is paved with good intentions
Been advised discretion, but I could use some direction
[Part II: Produced by brayden potts]
[Intro: Jonny Farias]
Some days I wonder if I'm loved by y'all
Some days I wonder if that even matters at all
Should be talking to God
I should give Him a call, yeah
[Verse: Jonny Farias]
It's been love from the outset
I’m plugged in, use the music as an outlet
Eyes weak, struggling to read between the hard lines
It’s been a hard time
We on the road to Zion, or am I taking steps in the wrong direction?
Projecting self hate on my brethren
Decaying mental state gon' have me leaving a bad lasting impression
Reckless errors in my ways can change relationships and friendships
I don't want this to end on a bad note, will it pay off?
Don't pity poor me, although this change strong
Reminiscing and writing rhymes left me with this grave thought
If ignorance is bliss, then what is knowledge?
At least to me, but that don't mean you shouldn't seek it
But be mindful of the fact that that's what killed our leaders
Still, I’ll fight for my beliefs until I can barely breathe
Hear the poet yawp before he’s shot up in the streets
All I want is to be heard, all I want is to be seen
But with that comes dealing with the drama and the beef
That’s petty, life’s shorter than the dollars from these streams
But the goals I’m tryna reach I find them harder to achieve
Anger at myself been the fodder for the demons
Try to follow all my dreams but right now it’s nightmares
They surround me, I’m scared; write and walk to help me think
Sad story, praying for a God from the machine
I used to see the forest for the trees
But now paradise is on fire
The thick smog makes it hard to see sometimes
But I hope the road I rove leads to Zion
Yeah
[Outro: Will Arnett (as Bojack Horseman) and Alison Brie (as Diane Nguyen)]
For what it’s worth, I think your writing does make a difference
Thanks
