Glen Campbell (story)

That song, that was recorded, of course, by my life-long friend Glen Campbell. Glen Campbell is very much alive; he and I are making a new album together to kinda commemorate... [applause] our mutual survival [audience laughs] to this degree. And I'm gonna do one of the songs from that album tonight, which is really a remake; it's something we did years ago we're determined that we're gonna try again. So, on this tour I've been kind of using the audience as a focus group and polling the audience about whether we should record this song again, and take another swing at the ball, you know. Most of the time, this would not be done. People would not do this. But I think this song is so catchy that I'm convinced that by the time I get to the last chorus of this song, that you're all gonna effortlessly join in [audience laughs]. You're gonna know the words, you're gonna know the melody, it's just gonna be in your bones, in your DNA, by the time I get to the end of this thing. And then you can let me know whether we should go ahead with it. You know? Thumbs up, thumbs down, whatever. But I'm definitely polling the audience and you will be a part of the process. I must betray a certain fondness for this overlooked song.
