Frankie and Harvey epitomise their signature sound in their ethereal, provocative new single ‘Adult Workers’.
In confession-box-style candour, Frankie talks adolescence, religion and the aspirations he has for himself and family
[Verse 1]
Know what I want
Since year ten, man know what I’m on
Remember in Concorde man got boxed?
Went catholic school but I couldn’t see god
Things they're changing a lot
But I wouldn’t wanna change one thing not one
Anything comes with pros and cons
Play hard to get then don’t get gone
Shit
Meant to say don’t get got
Writing tunes and working jobs
Hard to balance 'em both at once
But it’s what I chose so it’s what I’m on
Never not writing songs
Trust me dad I’m gonna get that Wong
Flip that bare times not once
Then halves between me you and mum
[Chorus]
You wanna house on the hill
I wanna big-money deal
That’s what I’m onto
You wanna grow and build
I wanna chill
That’s cos I know what I’ve gone through
Most are fake, not real
In real life, in music too trust me
I wanna do more shows, make more songs then play them around the country
[Verse 2]
Had years of rollers, afters
And went dam but I never done brasses
I’ve got a girl that’s different class and onto grown-up things like ski passes
If anyone talks down to you I’d get Ryan 'n Jacob to spark him
I’d do it myself if my hands weren’t rassed, and
Just wanna make you laugh and
You wanna get a big house and garden
I wanna big drive that’s got parking
Go to the pub half time watch Arsenal
Get a dog but not one barking
All the time you know them ones it’s jarring
You support me
When I wanted to stop you started
Wouldn’t let me stop that’s love and what I’m after
[Chorus]
You wanna house on the hill
I wanna big-money deal
That’s what I’m onto
You wanna grow and build
I wanna chill
That’s cos I know what I’ve gone through
Most are fake, not real
In music, in real life too trust me
I wanna do more shows, make more songs then play them around the country
Adult Workers was written by Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn.
Adult Workers was produced by Harvey Gunn.
Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn released Adult Workers on Fri Feb 28 2020.
This was the first song we made for our next album, and felt like it set the tone for the whole project.
Adult Workers has a religious feel throughout. I talk on the experience of going to a catholic school but not really understanding it. As soon as I heard the choir based sample I knew what I wanted to say
Harv made the beat before I had written anything, as soon as I heard it I knew what angle I was going to come at this
