The Stereotypes Lyrics

The Joker
The Jock
The Heartbreaker
The Big Shot
The Hero
The Cruel One
When we come together, we don’t really get along

Do you see, I’m very popular?
I cover up the truth with a lot of laughter
I’m never serious or emotional
Why should I bother showing feelings at all?

I like to train and keep my body fit
I avoid being soft, rather aggressive
I like to show my power and be harsh
My presence will leave a mark

But I am in charge, I break a lot of hearts
I fool all the women right from the start
I’m always in control, no signs of weakness
I am powerful

But what if I don’t wanna fit in?
What if I don’t belong to these?
These stereotypes of a man and his life
Do I have to be what the people want to see?

We all talk about feminism, it’s the thing
It’s important, yea right but do we even know what it means?
I never really could be what I wanted to be
Cause that’s not the kind of man they all want to see

I have a good job, I earn a lot of money
I go to the kitchen and bring my money to my honey
I'm socially successful but I get drunk because I hate my life
Get caught up in an affair and leave my wife

I am very strong, I have got it all
Sometimes I’m aggressive just for fun
Yet I am loved by everyone whilst I act all tough
I am a narcissist and cry myself to sleep

But I, I am aggressive all the time
I always shout and I’m never quite
I beat up my wife, why should that be wrong?
Then I take the gun, shoot her twice and leave her body with my son

But what if I don’t wanna fit in?
What if I don’t belong to these?
These stereotypes of a man and his life
Do I have to be what the people want to see?

We all talk about feminism, it’s the thing
It’s important, yea right but do we even know what it means?
I never really could be what I wanted to be
Cause that’s not the kind of man they all want to see

The people tell you what a real man should be
That’s why we end up all desperately
I’m an optimist and believe it or not
I will always have hope for this fucked up world

I know, who am I to talk?
Out of all the problems in the world, this is the one I brought up
I just wanna be myself but I realized that what I need
Isn’t other people’s approval of my mind and my body
If it’s a small town or big city
Now you see me running wild, being free, baby
Equality, I hope we’ll all find it in peace
Without tearing each other apart, piece by piece

We all talk about feminism, it’s the thing
It’s important, yea right but do we even know what it means?
I never really could be what I wanted to be
Cause that’s not the kind of man they all want to see

The people tell you what a real men should be
That’s why we end up all desperately
I’m an optimist and believe it or not
I still got hope for this fucked up world

The Joker
The Jock
The Heartbreaker
The Big Shot
The Hero
The Cruel One
When we come together
We don’t really get along
