[Brom]
They say a headless horseman
A specter, lost his soul
Emerges from the shadows
Wanting to be whole
Riding through the hollow
Pumpkin for a head
Searching for a victim
Doesn't know he's dead
His horse is huge and black
(spoken)
I bet you like that part, eh?
(sung)
But bloody sockets where its eyes should be
The rider on its back
Pure evil in his heart
The most horrific you could ever see!
On every Halloween
You sense the coming scene
You feel it in the drop in Fahrenheit
A wise man lives in fear
On this night every year
He knows the phantom lingers in the dark and dangerous, deadly night
[Katrina, Spoken]
Brom, stop it, you're scaring him
[Brom, Spoken]
He's fine, aren't you?
[Ichabod, Spoken]
I'm fine
So who's this horseman?
[Brom, Spoken]
A hessian, one of thirty thousand German soldiers sent here to fight on England's side during the Revolutionary War
(Sung)
One hessian in particular
A giant, fearsome beast
Slaughtered piles of colonists
Before the fighting ceased
Towering high on horseback
He galloped through the mud
Slicing heads off soldier boys
To quench his thirst for blood
George Washington himself
Was said to fear the man
He urged his troops to hunt the deadly kraut
His men picked up the charge
The generals all sat down
And planned an ambush just to flush him out!
October 31st!
The soldier's luck reversed
They gathered in the hollow and lay still
And who should ride in then
But the hessian and his men
As darkness fell on Tarrytown
The colonists heard "Fire at will!"
Their muskets blast the air
He jerks with each new shot
His story should be over then but
Sorry to say it's not
'Cause one ambitious new recruit
Is eager to impress
And like future generations
Often middle eastern nations
Desperate to be patriotic
Pulls out something idiotic
He grabs hold his trusty saber
And with some admitted labor
Saws through flesh, tissue, and tendon
Gives a spinal cord a bend and
Snaps his head clean off
His torso
Holds it high
Look what I got!
Now the headless spirit
Gallops through the frost
Forever searching for the severed head
He yearns for
Burns for
Lost
If he finds you out
On Halloween alone
He'll cut off your head
Just leave you dead and take it
For his own
