I burn a flag on every fourth of July
I burn it for my best friend Samantha’s birthday
It’s so hard not to cry as I’m watching the smoke rise
Cause I wish that she was here to burn it with me
She’s not but she fought a good fight
And I will honor her memory
When I burn the stars and stripes
And the fireworks in the sky
Ain’t got nothing on her wild wild eyes
I burn a flag on every fourth of July
I burn it for the punks in [?] City
They built a venue out of all the scraps of wood that they could find
And I’m so thankful for what they taught me
In our schools it is much more convenient
To confess to genocide
Than it is to admit that the people that we killed are still alive
I burn a flag on every fourth of July
I burn it for every person behind bars
No creature of any kind
Should be locked into a cage
No matter what they are
There’s got to be a better way
To deal with ugly things
And to make a change
We can never be free
Until there are no slaves
And there is no flag that should not be burned
I don’t know if we are ever gonna learn
That there is no flag that can bring us together
And there is no flag that’s any better
