The Best That We Can Do

The monsters in your brain are the hardest ones to slay

These songs that I sing help me deal with the things
The things that I can’t stand
These songs that I sing are so filled with negativity
I’m sorry you have to listen to them

Now I realize that this is how I fight
Writing songs and singing them is what keeps me alive

So I am going to sing
Even if no one’s listening
And I will try to be
A better human being

And I hope someday you can forgive me

And I hope that you find something that works for you
And I hope that you do it too
Take care of yourself and be kind to everybody else
