Teddy was ridin' away, he thought he had to kill to play
Teddy's father came out in the driveway
And told him that the gang had screwed him up

He had a dream, he'd made it work, and he said:
"Hey Dad, why are we even here
You know you bought this shack with the heave out back
And my sweat on the street, and we ain't moved yet"

And his friend Toothless Willie got off junk
'Cause it made him silly
He told Teddy to stay away from the Eastside bar
That's where the story unraveled, but it came out wrong
You know they're always wrong

He had a dream, he'd made it work
Involved a girl, street corner clerk
Her ignorance and her red-hot pants
Brought her crew from out back in a sneak attack

Teddy was right in a way, he knew he had to fight to play
They blocked him in, he stepped on back

To the screen back door of the house
