Host: (Woo!) Yeah! Naive Thieves on Audiotree Live.
Is anybody warm? I'll turn it down at the end if anybody's warm. (Are you all good?)
Cameron Thorne: I feel a little warm, but that's okay.
Host: (Okay!) Yeah, okay, okay, cool, no worries.
Can we talk a minute about writer's block? The video for Anxiété has, you know.
Thorne: Yes.
Host: Do you, like, can't write?
Thorne: Yes.
Host: And I feel like that's— Well, you can go. I was gonna say maybe that's really common, but maybe it's not. Yeah. I'll let you speak for yourself.
Thorne: It's actually kind of a theme that has been going through the new record that we have coming out. We talk a lot about kind of getting stuck or feeling very stuck, writer's block being one of them. Maybe not necessarily just writer's block. It's just like being trapped when you know you wanna express yourself creatively.
Host: Yeah.
Thorne: And you can't because there's just that mental block. So yeah.
We had fun with the video. That's our good friend Blake who had no acting experience, so.
Host: (Laughs) No, it's really good there. He did really well for having no acting experience.
Thorne: It was insane how nervous he was. And we were like, "Dude, you're gonna kill it." (And he did.)
Host: Yeah, like no worries. His voice is never even in it, right?
Thorne: (No, no, no.)
Host: So it doesn't matter. He just grins and looks a lot.
Thorne: He chugged a lotta chocolate milk that day so that was fun for him. And us.
Host: Oh yeah, 'cause the whole gallon. Oh man. Dave [sic], how long did it take him to finish that? Do you remember?
Thorne: We did it in like a day.
Host: Okay.
Levi Audette: (Yeah.)
Thorne: It was like a day and some change.
Host: Okay, so it was probably multiple gallons (over the course of the day).
Thorne: Yeah, we had like five chocolate milk.
Audette: He drank it all.
Host: (Laughs) Dang, geez.
Yeah, I can totally feel that just with anything creatively where you can't express yourself. Or there's like something that you want— When I was drawing and when I was younger, you know, it's like you have this idea in your head and it never comes out the way that you want it to. Do you have any way to solve it?
Thorne: Not really, it's just kind of just patience and time and knowing that eventually it'll come. Maybe when you least expect it.
Host: Sure.
Thorne: Try not to force it, you know?
Host: Yeah, and maybe differently than you expected it in the first place.
Thorne: Exactly.
Host: Thanks, you guys, so much for being here,
Thorne: (Of course)
Host: and why don't you go on to your next track?
Thorne: Thank you for having us.
