“Alcohol” is the lead single released off FIDLAR’s 2019 third album, Almost Free. This is their band’s first original release since 2015’s Too. The song is about singer and guitarist Zac Carper’s experiences in rehab, and how listening to people share their stories made him want to grab a drink.
[Verse 1]
I walk around with a screwdriver
A pack of smokes and a Bic lighter
I stay out of your way if you stay out of my way
'Cause I don't wanna listen to your shit every day
I'm tired of walking away to lose you
I take my Adderall with milk and sugar
I'm gonna be okay, get the fuck out of my way
'Cause all it is is just a bunch of Kool-Aid
[Pre-Chorus]
I wanna lose my mind and lose track of time
Won't somebody please just give me some
[Chorus]
Alcohol
Alcohol
Alcohol
Alcohol
[Verse 2]
I'm sure I've got it figured out but I really don't know
I love waking up in some random's home
And I'll pack a cone and hit it to the dome
And now I just wanna be alone
I wake up in the morning and I'm loose
And I chew a couple pills and I hit the juice
And I feel okay and get the fuck out my way
And did you think I wanna hear what you have to say?
[Pre-Chorus 2]
Do you wanna stay inside
Or do you wanna go get some
[Chorus]
Alcohol
Alcohol
Alcohol
Alcohol
[Bridge]
I'm sure I've got it figured out but I really don't know
I love waking up in some random's home
And I'll pack a cone and hit it to the dome
And now I just wanna be alone
Now I just wanna be alone
Now I just wanna be alone
With my
[Chorus]
Alcohol
Alcohol
Alcohol
Alcohol
Alcohol
Alcohol
Alcohol was written by FIDLAR.
Alcohol was produced by Ricky Reed.
It was more of distrust of any type of program. Even religion, or anything like that. It’s just the Kool-Aid people drink.
“Alcohol” definitely started with the riff. I had that riff that goes throughout the whole song. And then I remember we built the drum track, and we had that for awhile, like an instrumental. It had a good feel to it. The tempo, it’s sort of like you can nod your head to it.
It’s this really cool overdriven tiny amp. But sometimes the little amps can be inspiring to write on.
