5/10 Annotated

Yesterday was one of those lucky-to-be-alive days. It started poorly, raining on our only day off. We decided to go walk the harbor, see the opera house. We ate lunch at this business food court. Looked and felt very out of place. The rain wasn't persistent though and so we said fuck it and decided to race the sun out to Wattamolla where Jason said we could jump off a cliff into water. I fucking hate heights. I get dizzy and disoriented but I swore to myself that I'd jump. The water was fucking freezing. The kind of cold that when you get chest high it starts to feel like it's caving your lungs in. I swam out to where we'd be landing, sized up the height from the bottom and then started running. I ran back up the hill, hopped the fence, took one look down and I did it. I closed my eyes, measured out two steps and fucking did it. The way down felt like eternity. I could see over the sand bar to the ocean, the cove between two cliffs that this waterfall and channel emptied into. Time paused. I hung weightless and then, all at once the world was green and blue and I was alive.
