“Young And Menace” is the lead single from Fall Out Boy’s seventh studio record, Mania. According to bassist Pete Wentz, it is one of the weirdest songs the band has ever made. He says it is about feeling like an outsider in his own community, and finding people like himself through punk-rock music....
[Verse 1]
We've gone way too fast for way too long
And we were never supposed to make it half this far
And I lived so much life, lived so much life
I think that God is gonna have to kill me twice
Kill me twice like my name was Nikki Sixx
I woke up in my shoes again but somewhere you exist singing
[Chorus]
Oops I, did it again, I forgot what I was losing my mind about
Oh, I only wrote this down to make you press rewind
And send a message: I was young and a menace
[Breakdown (Chopped Sample)]
Young and a menace
[Verse 2]
Woke up on the wrong side of reality
And there's a madness that's just coursing right through me
And as far as the time, far as the time
Not sure I'm there yet but I'm certain I've arrived
[Chorus]
Oops I, did it again, I forgot what I was losing my mind about
Oh, I only wrote this down to make you press rewind
And send a message: I was young and a menace
[Breakdown (Chopped Sample)]
Young and a menace
[Bridge]
I'm just here flying off the deep end
I'm just here to become the best yet
I'm just here for the psych assessment
I'm just here for the... For the...
Fall!
[Breakdown (Chopped Sample)]
Young and a menace
[Outro]
We've gone way too fast for way too long

Fall Out Boy released Young and Menace on Thu Apr 27 2017.
“Young & Menace” was revealed by Pete Wentz in this interview. In it, he says:
I think that, to me, the song and the record is kind of about, it’s about the idea of being an outsider, and then, you’re like… This is how I remember growing up. Like, I felt like an outsider in my own house a littl...
The song was teased for three days before its release in a dramatic advertising campaign. This included sending local fans to their nearest cinema complex (at the wrong time, nonetheless) to look for a hidden message in the trailers before the film. The announcement was disguised as a commercial for...
We wrote and recorded it, and I think that when you’re the artists, and you’re doing it, your perspective gets a little bit skewed, because you’re too close to the thing. Jesse Shatkin was able to distill it and make it something that was listenable for other people. He’s awesome.
