Yes I Believe

This remedy
Is pure and ratified
Like some crooked intermission
They've twisted words
Into a labyrinth of lies
And the sheep are happily grazing

Yes I believe
In an old world true and kind
But also bigoted and brutal
These are the ways
Forefathers thought were wise
These are the wicked and the cruel

Yes I believe
That a conscience somewhere hides
And another day will rise with lesser evils
And I can see
The clean and clear horizon line
Maybe the only thing immune to an upheaval

I have no faith
In the politics of men
Blind in the arrogance of privilege
They don't know us
And they don't care about our friends
They just lust after the glow of their own image

Yes I believe
In the adventure of this life
But only when I look into innocent eyes
