Faster than vision on a wire

And the voice says to me:

Rattles sound inches from my face

With a phone cord for a tail

And the snake says to me:

I dial networks that ripen slowly
Ripen long after 12 o'clock
And the wind shakes the drying fruit
Sounds like chewing in the dark

And I choose what I see
