(Verse 1)
Stop staring at those posters on the wall and let’s get away
Scuba diving off a super-yacht hug Pacific waves
Fly the gulf stream to London book a Euro train
Gazing out the window til we in a cave
Forget the rental let’s be a local
It’s a rare type of peace when nobody knows you
Wander around shopping in town we can go sight seeing demolition the ground
Put ya phone away let’s make memories
Have ever you got lost northwesterly?
Then you kept pacing forward while you reverie?
Then finding your way took a century?
Trying new entrees for dinner
This is not America the portions are thinner
This is not America don’t call me a nigga
This is not America a home I consider
(Chorus)
I can’t wait to go on vacation
I been grinding so hard and I can’t fake it
You only get one life and you can’t waste it
That’s why my destination never basic
I wanna run it up on vacay (vacay)
You could sun it up on vacay (vacay)
We can make a son vacay (vacay)
Kicked out of hotels
You know how I play
I wanna run it up on vacay (vacay)
You could sun it up on vacay (vacay)
We can make a son vacay (vacay)
Kicked out of hotels
You know how I play
(Verse 2)
I know you be working (working)
I know you deserve it (deserve it)
Ya tan in the rays so perfect
Frappé with the drizzle Starbucks perfect
We should take a vacay (we should)
We should take a vacay (we should)
We should take a vacay
No more delays, let’s hit the runway
You on schedule 5 days a week (oou ahh)
What you think about pedicures for a week (ah ah ah)
Pink sands on milk colored watered beach (ah ah ah)
No fury slips, Vuitton sandals on ya toes
Pit stops in Arezzo just for gold (no no no)
I know you love ya gold (no no no)
But what if I proposed? Oou you can take a diamond home (ahhhhh)
(Chorus)
I can’t wait to go on vacation
I been grinding so hard and I can’t fake it (ah ah ah ah )
You only get one life and you can’t waste it (no)
That’s why my destination never basic (oou)
I wanna run it up on vacay (ah)
You could sun it up on vacay (oou)
We can make a son vacay (ah)
Kicked out of hotels you know how I play
I wanna run it up on vacay (vacay)
You could sun it up on vacay (vacay)
We can make a son vacay (vacay)
Kicked out of hotels you know how I play
I wanna run it up on vacay (vacay)
You could sun it up on vacay (vacay)
We can make a son vacay (vacay)
Kicked out of hotels you know how I play
Vacay was written by Jeanelle Mitchell & L.Smith.
Vacay was produced by Cobeau.
I wrote this song for someone special but what inspired the concept for “Vacay” was a poster of the Martha Ann yacht sailing on light denim blue water tapped to my bedroom wall. I instantly thought of vacations while staring at that image while listening to the beat.
The process for making “Vacay” was pretty seamless. Last July Cobeau emailed the beat over then I wrote the lyrics in probably a hour, recorded a demo then emailed it back then she replied “this is good I can hear some vocal harmonies scattered in the background” a month later Cobeau returned a demo...
My primary target listener for Vacay is women. On this record I crooned my vocals instead of my usual mid nasally octave. In other words I rapped the lyrics in a lower tone which is similar to the way I speak in phone conversations.
