“Untitled 06” is about Luca Brasi, a character from Mario Puzo’s The Godfather, who was essentially a spy for the Corleone family. In the story, when Luca gets made by Sollozo, he’s drowned with a pair of cement boots to sink to the bottom of the ocean.
The demo version of the song is all acoustic...
[Verse 1]
Well I lost my taste for the company of airports and cars
We flew through the year and avoided the dust and the rock
We stood in the way of the tank ‘til we board and we stopped
Son, never show doubt in your hand ‘til you know what they got, yeah
[Chorus 1]
Touch me, or don’t
Just let me know–
Where you been?
[Verse 2]
Well, drop me a line with a hook and some raw bleeding bait (One, two, three, four)
Oh, I am uncaught and still swimming alone in the lake (Five, six, seven, eight)
A-shimmering under a moon made in anger and haste (I was the one who was always repeating it)
A-shimmering like a penny out of reach in the subway grating (Shimmering like a coin kept safe away)
(You never listen to anything)
[Chorus 2]
Touch me, or don’t
Just let me know–
Where you been?
We could leave it alone
I’m sure there’s someone who knows
Where you been?
