“Uncommon Man” is partly inspired by the classical composition “Fanfare for the Common Man”, composed by Aaron Copland.
It is also the second song dedicated to the passing of founding member Jon Lord in July 2012.
As he did an orchestral piece for the song ‘'April’‘ all the way back in 1969.
[Intro]
[Verse 1]
Things fall together in time
And who said you can’t have it all?
The beast in the room
The heavy kind of feeling
It’s got to be twenty foot tall
[Refrain 1]
But the man is standing high
Oh, oh, oh
It’s good to be king!
[Verse 2]
Standing together again
Everyone's starting to sway
Up on a hill
Close to the sky
Oh, it’s a fabulous day
[Refrain 2]
And the man is walking tall
Oh, oh, oh
It’s good to be king!
Oh, it’s good to be king
[Verse 3]
Bow your head
The carriage is waiting
To take you away
Remember the feeling
Remember the day
Believe what you're seeing
As the ladies in-waiting drift away
[Organ / Keyboard Solo]
[Guitar Solo]
[Outro]
It’s good to be king
Ah, it's good to be king
It's good to be king
Yes, it's good to be king
