The sun was slowly sinking down like a lid about to close
And weary I laid down to rest and as I began to doze
It suddenly occurred to me like the sunset in the sky
I wondered if we're just a dream in somebody else's eye

Is someone dreaming of a world of rubies and rhapsodies
Where eagles court the mountain peaks and whales serenade the seas
Where greens of field and forest dance with blues of lake and sky
I wonder how these wonders look to somebody else's eye

So what explains the harm we've done to water and air and land
We held the garden in our grip and let it slip out of hand
