In “Prayer,” the quartet sings a solemn prayer about their mistakes, repenting in the style of a religious hymn. As the conclusion to Side 3 of Ghost Quartet, this song has the lights fade up in the stage version of the show, ending the darkness that was present throughout Side 3.
(During this song, the lights slowly fade up.)
[ALL]
I WILL TRY TO FORGIVE MYSELF
FOR LIVING IN THE DARK
FOR MY LOSS OF WONDER
FOR FORGETTING HOW TO PLAY
I WILL TRY TO FORGIVE MYSELF
FOR BEING ABSENT IN PUBLIC
AND BORED BEFORE STARS
FOR NOT REMEMBERING
FOR NOT BEING IN MY BODY
FOR NOT STARTING RIGHT NOW
I WILL TRY
TO SEE MYSELF AS I AM
Prayer was written by Dave Malloy.
Prayer was produced by Dave Malloy & Brent Arnold.
Ghost Quartet released Prayer on Fri Oct 31 2014.
