Was "O.O" always intended to be NMIXX's debut song?
We just do music that we like & that’s how O.O was born! So no, but we knew this song was ment for one of the boldest & baddest idol groups tho haha ;) Very happy O.O found its home with NMIXX. They nailed it!
What concept/sound did you have in mind for "O.O"?
We followed our gut & sometimes something provoking or innovative comes out :)
Is the final track in-line with the original idea?
Yes! The final track is very similar to the original idea, it gives off the same vibe and energy and the girls performed it perfectly. When recording the song I made to the girls kept the energy the same
What's your favorite part about the song or the songwriting process?
My favourite part about this song was the fact that we took two complete different genres and combined them. So as a writer it allowed us to explore and mix different sounds. This song was a joint effort from The HUB and when it came to putting the two songs together, i’d say that was my highlight....
Were there any pressures to produce the debut single of NMIXX?
We were all hands on with it. A few rewrites & months later Charlotte texted me with the news JYP was cutting the song & needed the vocal stems! But even before the final version Brian, Markalong & Enan did about a dozen different versions & the rest is history!
What were some inspirations you drew upon while making "O.O"?
We were inspired by Caribbean and Latin flows
& sounds.
What made you decide to go with this layered style in production?
We wanted to create something fresh and unique. Baile Funk is the first genre heard in the song and it is exciting and vibrant, the second is rock pop which is also Vibrant but in an opposite way. We layered the song to showcase both genres specifically.
What did NMIXX say about "O.O"?
The Girls love this song! It was fun to record with them and they were able to have fun while recording!
What does the term "O.O" mean?
As stated in verse 3, the term “O.O” is meant to represent the sub of an equation. The simple equation turns out to be zero + zero = O.O in this song.
“O.O” could also possibly be an emoticon to show feelings of shock, surprised, and scared.
