When life is full of peril, there are people we forget
We forget those friends who loved us, stood with us against the threat
And then you see a picture, drawn carefully on a wall
All happy, smiling and carefree, from a time you can’t recall (from a time you can’t recall)
In the strangest situations, I wonder if she knew
That her paintings would inspire the hope that carried through
She sparked something within me when I saw my face
Of better times that are to come now; I wish there was no Trace
They grace the walls, the ceiling, bring affection to my heart
The soul that made each person shows the lesson you impart
The pictures might not be moving, but they feel as if alive
When tired and worn and weary, their magic does revive (their magic does revive)
In the strangest situations, I wonder if she knew
That her paintings would inspire the hope that carried through
She sparked something within me when I saw my face
Of better times that are to come now; I wish there was no Trace
Intermixed there was a ribbon, spelling ‘friends’, it wove through them
It’s the love your paintings bring us which’ll get us through the end
Friends, friends, friends, they’ll get us through the end, oh
Friends, friends, friends, they’ll get us through the end, oh
Friends, friends, friends, they’ll get us through the end, oh
Friends, friends, friends, they’ll get us through the end, oh
Friends
In the strangest situations, I wonder if she knew
That her paintings would inspire the hope that carried through
She sparked something within me when I saw my face
Of better times that are to come now; I wish there was no Trace
I wish there was no Trace; I wish there was no Trace
Friends, friends, friends, they’ll get us through the end, oh
Friends, friends, friends, they’ll get us through the end, oh
Friends, friends, friends, friends, friends
