The last of the three “upbeat” songs on the album, “Little Piece of Trash” deals with feelings of inadequacy and abandonment but in an exuberant way.
I'm a little piece of trash
Somebody dropped in the street
I'm a little cigarette
I'm a wrapper that used to hold something sweet
And I'm blowing in the wind
I'm blowing all around
I wanna blow back home
But in my little heart I know I'm only going down
I'm going down town
Where nobody wants to know your name
Where everybody is trash
And the cigarette ash
Blowing from a burned out cigarette flame
I'll mix it with the yuck and I'll mingle with the grime
Cos we flash for a while, then
Will we burn out in time
That'll be just fine
Oh oh oh oh
I'm a little piece of trash
And you can kick me around
Maybe someone'll come
And maybe brush off the scum
And put me where I belong
In a barrel of trash painted industrial green
And I don't really give a fuck
If they put me in a truck
And send me off to sea
And I've come down, down
To the bottom of the ocean floor
And I'll blow around down
Where no one's gonna kick me down no more
And I'll mix it with the vile and I'll mingle with the slime
Cause we're whole for a while
Will we break apart in time?
And I'll feel just fine about that now
