It’s Hannah’s first day and for the most part she tries to navigate the new school and meeting new people. We get introduced to some of the people she will later put on her tapes, but at this point everyone seems nice and Hannah goes about her day with a positive outlook.
[Hannah’s Mom]
Honey, your alarm went off three times already
Time to wake up
I’ll take that mumble as a sign
That you will not miss your bus
Me and your dad are doing fine
If you’re wondering
This is not about me, not about me, not about me
Don’t miss your bus I love you
[Hannah’s Dad]
I fried some eggs and poured some oj downstairs
I’ll be out late tonight, I know it’s not fair
Me and your mom are doing fine
Stop your worrying
Everything fine, just have to provide
But Daddy loves you
[Hannah’s Mom]
I know kids are mean
[Hannah’s Dad]
And I know that I seems
That we can’t understand
[Both]
But we can____cause we were teens once too
And look wе made it through!
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah-
[Hannah]
I’m on my way I promise
I’m a big girl, first day of school isn’t the samе as second grade
When you’re sixteen
It’s get on the bus, get through the day with no fuss
Hopefully make a friend or two
But honestly I wonder
If the anxiety bubbling inside of me
Is easy to see as it is to feel in my chest
I guess we’ll see
When I’m walking through liberty
[Students]
Faces in our screens
Ears plugged
Combination, open
Instagram machines, cameras focus, no stress
Just-
Faces in our screens
Ears plugged
Don’t wanna let the world in
[Tyler]
Daydream of graduation goodbyes
[Mr. Porter]
Good morning, Liberty High
[Tony]
Mr. Porter, the school counselor
(Good Morning Sir)
Pretty nice guy, always tired, always overworked
He’s got a “keen eye”
But if you hide it he won’t find the hurt
But let’s not get ahead
Pan to Hannah and the handsome flirt
[Justin]
I don’t think I’ve ever seen you
I’m Justin
You look lost, you must be new
I must admit
You caught my eye ‘cross the hall
I’d love to give you a call sometime...
[Hannah]
Could you point me to room 309?
[Justin]
Great, I’ll pick you up and we’ll-
Oh. uh, go down the hall and take the third left
[Hannah]
Got it! Thanks
[Justin]
Wait, what’s your name?
[Tony]
I know what you’re thinking, that she’s playing hard to get
And you’re right
Hannah’s very bright. Hannah knows he might
Think she’s easy if he cops the digits breezy
So she's hella tease-y
[Justin]
Hey Siri, shuffle “Free Weezy”
[Tony]
God, he’s sleazy
[Sheri]
If you wanna be on the cheer team
Tryouts at three
[Tony]
What’s up Sheri?
Big fan of Bring it on...
[Sheri]
Just move along, Tony, I ain’t ya homie:
Hey, do you wanna be on the cheer team?
[Hannah]
I can barely stand on my feet
[Sheri]
Either way you’re stunning...
If you end up coming, you can skip the line
[Hannah]
Uh, I’ll keep that in mind
[Sheri]
Go tigers!
[Hannah]
Bye
[Tyler]
Eyes in my lens
Ears plugged
Combination, open
Fuck. avoid varsity
Hey, you two smile for the yearbook!
[Jessica & Hannah]
Cheese...
[Jessica]
Hi, I’m Jessica Davis
[Hannah]
Hannah, I’m new here
[Jessica]
Same, sis
[Tony]
Aww, just like that Hannah made her first friend
[Hannah]
I’m a big girl
First day of school isn’t the same as second grade
When you’re sixteen
Anxiety bubbles just a little more subtly
And everyone seems nice..
(Hi I'm Courtney)
And that Justin kid is fine...
And it’s honestly the best
When you get to start fresh
'cause you realize here that you’re new and not only depressed...
I guess we’ll see
If that’s lasting at Liberty
[Students]
Faces in our screens
Ears plugged
Beat the bell, keep walking (Could you help me find my way) instagram machines
Camera snap, mouth don’t chat
At Liberty I learn
Silence keeps my mind from talking
[Tyler]
Day dream of graduation goodbyes
Try not to look the jocks in the eyes
[Jessica]
Hannah, let’s hang at Monet’s tonight
[Justin]
Get that cute new girl outta my mind
[Hannah]
I think I’m going to be just fine
[Tony]
Hard yikes
[All]
