Recorded in 1998, “James Riot” was considered for When I Go North, an early version of the 1999 album Do the Collapse. While it was ultimately left off the album, it was performed live twice in 1998 and was released in 2000 on the Suitcase compilation, under the fake band name Champion Hairpuller.
[Verse 1]
My name is James, James Riot is who I am
I am the rock of a petrified world, I am
Lost are the assets of my age
Sharpens my kick and cram
[Verse 2]
I am the bastard, naked before the bitch
I am the beast, I'm the rat on the frazzled stitch
Pull you apart to find your heart
I'll see you writhe and twitch
[Verse 3]
Line them up against the wall protesting happily
With courage in the clothes we bought
This is where the net shall fall, except for me, heads up
The news crews will await
To rise to meet you with big generals at the bar
With extensive coverage on each and every television
James Riot was written by Robert Pollard.
