The song is the imagined internal monologue of a struggling alcoholic.
Based off of perhaps listening to only this song, and not listening very closely, NME wrote off the entire album as being about getting drunk and starting fights.
There's something in my head that I've wanted to say
When some of these ideas, they won't go away
And all of my demons, they come out to play
I wish I had more control of myself because
I've had enough of getting drunk, yeah
I've had enough of getting drunk, yeah
I've had enough of getting drunk, yeah
I've had enough of getting drunk, yeah
Don't ask me what I think of science and art
I've got all these questions locked up in my heart
There's too much to do and I don't know where to start
Just wish that I had more control of myself, because
I've had enough of getting drunk, yeah
I've had enough of getting drunk, yeah
I've had enough of getting drunk, yeah
I've had enough of getting drunk, yeah
I know sometimes it seems like I got it going on
I don't, you wouldn't believe, and oh
Sometimes my dreams are so far-fetched
That I cannot begin to conceive a way out
Yeah
Yeah, a way out
It's a waste of my time
It's a waste of my mind
It's a waste of my time
It's a waste of my mind
I've had enough of getting drunk, yeah
I've had enough of getting drunk, yeah
I've had enough of getting drunk, yeah
