It all quickly went downhill when I was in grade school
Trying to hide my pain I would act like a fool
Class was never in session I had no principals
My only guide line was to brake all the rules
Run in through hallways talk out of turn
Didn’t retain half of anything that I learned
Earned the nickname g clown from the homies
Got in trouble, the would quickly act like they don’t know me
Finding the love phony feel heavy weighted & lonely
Everything in the middle bubble like fried baloney
I’m growing, it’s painful, dirty, pretty & ugly
It became boy meets world & only god can judge me
Hitting harder than rugby everything in life sucks
Sick of everybody trying to tell me what’s what
I know I can’t have it all but what I got ain’t enough
This being alive thing I’m thinking about giving up
When the going got tuff, the tuff got going
Granny passed away on by a thread I was holding
Crying in the morning, mourning Cali’s kiss
Through her love, pride & strength I collided with Jesus
Bridge
I awake to warm air & a ray from the sunrise
It cracks through blinds as I open up both eyes
I, listen to the air out there and realize
The birds chirp and fly and the winds blow
But I ain’t heard you say it’s time for me to go
My brisk walk to the bust stop is slow & long
Focused on how you would want me to be strong
At my weakest, needing a shoulder to lean on

I’m alright, I didn’t have the easiest life
I’m okay, been blessed with everything that I need
On the way, made mistakes the important thing
I learned the path that you’re on can change 2x
Verse
I’m married now I gotta wife and two kids
I could never have dreamed of what my life is
It’s priceless, I wouldn’t trade the world for it
We live honest we ain’t keeping up with the jones’s
Carla’s gorgeous, Zaire & Royal are handsome
These two handfuls are your great grandsons
We love dancing, wildlife, art, walks in the park
Through me I pray they feel your loving heart
If life as I know it was to end right now. I am the happiest and most complete that I’ve ever been. I serve my church, I serve the community, I serve my friends. I am a husband and the father of two beautiful sons, and I’m thankful
