Homecoming Queen

A teenage boy with an awkward smile
And a girl so far out of reach
So different from the rest
But they shared a dream
That one day meet the homecoming queen

In the high-school paper was a lottery
First prize was the answer to his prayers
He entered in with nothing to lose and all to gain
And for once his parade would escape the rain

From seperate worlds miles apart
Tonight they dance to the beat of their hearts
But the higher
Your hopes take you the further the fall
And tomorrow
The boy won't be seen in the halls

Now his life had made a turnaround
But all good things must come to an end
The next day she explained that she ecould not be seen
With his kind as the homecoming queen

Her reputation was of greater concern
Than what they were feeling
Much too high to be easily let down
And now he's all alone with his father's gun
