To be “hallowed” is to be revered and respected. Gao struggles with the feeling of deserving some kind of recognition, desperately wanting to be respected, or “hallowed”. The Intro track encapsulates all the fear, doubt and bitterness that comes from this hallowed state.
(Verse)
There's only so much I can feign
I chose to go against the grain
It shows been sewing since the day I woke up
It's spite and OJ flowing in the veins
Foreboding close enough to taste
I feel the locusts in the place my throats cut
(Chorus)
Hallowed be thy name
Hallowed be thy name
That shadow's preordained
The gallows feed on babes
Hallowed be thy name
Hallowed be thy name
No ballads sing my praise
How shallow be my grave
