[Intro: Jonny Lee Miller as Sick Boy]
Well, at one point, you've got it, then you lose it, then it's gone forever. It's certainly a phenomenon in all walks of life
[Verse 1: Crescent Moon]
We were completely separate samples being handled without a worry
Then the petri dish slipped, released from the clouded fury
There was a flurry, everyone was out in a hurry
The crowd had scurried, now the disturbing earthlings had burst free
We learned to speak, emerged down streets
Left the lab behind, had a plan designed to stop the sands of time
Found an abandoned mine to call home, it was desecrated
Alone, devastated, somehow we separated
[Verse 2: Advizer]
See, Oddjobs is really just a science project gone wrong
Some long lost motherfucking brothers coming to drop bombs
I'm off and on with honesty, we barely weaseled in
Now we constantly have to explain "Oh, he's just my evil twin"
So pins and needles, needles and pins
We keep the gears turning and we make the wheels spin
Separated at birth, dedicated, diverse
Demonstrating our worth and penetrating the Earth
"They gave my spot on the basketball team to the foreign exchange student"
People only like me when I act ignorant
But I think they're starting to catch on that I ain't clueless
Damn, the only thing in the vending machine's for 50 cents is black licorice
I found a pack of cigarettes, traded them to a kid with facial scars
Living in cable cars for a Billy Ripken fuck face baseball card
And I can speak like cave wall art
When it's deciphered, wandering writer playing my part
In the scheme of things, I dream of things while sleepwalking
Stop at the coffee shop, come here oft than not
I was just dropping by, why do you ask? Do I remind you of someone?
He's kind of one of those hard to describe, um- um- um, a dumb bum
The idea intrigued me, always thought of myself uniquely
Part of the wealth of that speaking
Song making weekly congregated community
Introverted assertive nervous verse spitting in my room with me
So you and she, those dudes and we, antisocial life
Demand I vocalize in solo landslide
Hold the microphone and hide in the snow
So I can find a home below those cold souls
Surface inhabitants gathering never seen the other side
Adam's been one of them ever since my brother died
Discovered I've only been half right all this halftime
Haphazardly rhyming, drastically winding down, dwindling in this half life
As I stepped to the lake of the underground heart
What sound sparked, looked around, startled, found the mark of my counterpart
On the shore of the ground, dark and brown, starts
To pound, parked my feet and looked down at my heart
And the lake became plastered like a rink of ice in the blink of an eye
Saw my reflection, great minds think alike
[Sample: Sean Gullette as Maximillian Cohen]
Everything came into focus and for a moment I understood
[Verse 3: Crescent Moon]
They kept me hidden in a prison cuz I didn't listen
Snatched me out the sky, making for an incomplete solar system
My mission: go the distance, something from within was missing
Had to find it or the climate and the atmosphere would give in
The pattern flickered on the surface of Saturn
As battered lanterns shattered, bringing sacred pieces to the ground
Got seasick, nearly drowned before I climbed aboard the ghost ship
Eyes began to focus so I gathered up the broke bits
Judging by the splinters, I knew the center of our soul split
On our day of birth which was the first winter solstice
I stood there a moment, frozen from the cold drifts
With closed fists, the whole trip seemed to be hopeless
I dove overboard and searched the bottom of the sea floor
For what? I couldn't be sure, gave up and took a detour
I heard the sky calling but I couldn't leave incomplete
Searched through the rain, in the snow, in the wind, in the sleet
Centuries passed by, alas, I ended my search
Never intended to finish, again descended to Earth
I swore I wouldn't rest until my quest had some closure
Never woulda guessed before my death it would be over
I sank a little lower to the layer of the ogres
Beneath the seas, beneath the trees, between debris and boulders
Underground, no longer colder and the Sun no longer hotter
Wasn't sure where I had wandered, then I saw the lake of water
I fell to my knees, peeped my reflection, held my breath and
I could finally see, I had finally learned my lesson
With no direction in the dark, I wasn't sure where to start
Then I felt the beating and looked down towards my heart
