Getting to Know Myself Again

As I turn the page on darker days
I feel the blue returning to my eyes
I'd heard solitude was all the rage
But loneliness was not as I romanticized
Down to one last one more chance
You find a man coming back to life

And this morning’s coffee is where last night's whiskey would have been
Ready to start again

Slowly I'm learning I can only solve my problems with a pen
Every now and then
But I found the faith I needed here
Holding the courage to look in the mirror and see a friend
I’m getting to know myself again

Now I draw the blinds on life anew
Stand-in politics begin to fall apart
You can't change your life in a moment
But in a moment you can choose to restart
Like a warm embrace the sun shines through
The cracks in the walls of the box that holds my heart
