Funnelcloud

Do you see on the horizon
A swirling form is formed
Lifting cars and trees and houses as it comes
Tearing all of our cathedrals
Like weeds out of the grown
Moving on and on and on and on…

But we all looked the other way
Thought chamber walls would make us safe
Buried our heads beneath the sand
As the funnelcloud was tearing through our land

When that cyclone came
I ran outside to fight
All Pecos Billed with my hands
Looping strands of twine
But when i caught it in my lasso
And pulled the rope ends taut
The wind slipped right in through
And crushed me to the ground

But we all looked thе other way
Thought chamber walls would make us safе

As the funnelcloud was tearing through our land

We felt no fear before the flames
We thought ignoring made it safe
We kept our eyes from neighbors' bodies
Piled high inside shared graves
We let the madman spread their lies
We kept our eyes turned from the sky
We bared our teeth and gnashed our fangs
At anyone who stayed inside

And we all looked the other way

Eyes closed repeating it is safe
We let our children play outside
As we called that funnelcloud a lie
