I'm dragging these bones up on the hill
In the valley is a cold winter chill
I can see my breath
And I can't feel my fingertips
The sky is dark, the world's about to end
I'm thinking about the death of my old friends
And I just realized, there's wrinkles in my skin
We all grow old
And our gray hair will start to thin
So I will get my strength
I will get my strength
Oh I will get me strength from field medicine
I'm walking through the fields all dressed in black
The snowfall is covering my tracks
Oh I might get lost
Or I might catch my death
The wind blew through the smoke and pine
It's a lonely walk to the county line
I'm a drifter at best
Just looking for a place to rest my head
The pills you take might just break your heart
The empty bottles spread across the floor
I'll close the windows
I'll close the windows honey
I'll close the windows and lock the door
I’ve always considered life to be a precious war and struggle between one and one’s surroundings. The term Field Medicine comes from trying to save soldiers lives on the battlefield. When writing these songs, I wanted them to provide the medicine and healing for the struggles of the heart and mind.
